In his beautiful song, Everybody, Keith Urban reminds us that "everybody needs somebody sometimes." Well, even if you work for a company of one, everybody needs motivating...sometimes! Motivational and inspirational speaking has been around as long as man has been on earth. We owe a debt of gratitude to the ancient Egyptian, Roman, and Greek cultures (just to name a few) for handing down the art of persuasion and great oratorical skills. While the art of public speaking is generally credited to ancient Greeks, I believe people were motivating and inspiring others even during the caveman era. Can't you just see the lead caveman standing in front of a group of people articulating grunts of inspiration to help them survive?
